Recently Punjab State Assembly passed a bill to de-notify the land acquired to construct SYL Canal and return it to the farmers, from whom it was acquired three decades ago. As per media reports, Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal on Friday (June 24) claimed that the government had scrapped section 5 of the Punjab Termination of Agreements Act (PTAA), 2005. He was addressing media persons during a “sangat darshan” program at Nakodar. However, he did not elaborate on when his government had scrapped it, notes the Indian Express (IE).
