Badals plan “Morcha” against formation of HSGMC, Convenes gathering at Amritsar on July 27

Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 19, 2014): Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) held a core-committee meeting at Chandigarh today. The party led by Parkash Singh Badal and his clan reportedly planned a Morcha against formation of a separate Gurdwara Committee in Haryana in this meeting.

SAD (Badal) has also convened a gathering in Amritsar on July 27, 2014 where the top brass of the party is likely to announce the form of the agitation/ “Morcha”.

Badal Dal president and Punjab’s deputy CM Sukhbir Badal and cabinet minister Daljit Cheema declared that Badal Dal’s convention shall be held at Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in Darbar Sahib Complex on July 27.

Badal Dal leaders refused to answer direct questions about the form of their announced agitation and said that the next course of action would be announced in Amritsar on July 27 where Badal Dal, SGPC leaders and workers/ activists and Badal Dal supporters from Indian and abroad would be converging in protest against the decision of the Haryana government to form HSGPC.

Sukhbir Badal said that it was a “do or die battle” for his party. He said that lakhs of people would gather in 27 July conference.

Badal Dal leaders also declared that a meeting of the leadership of SAD (Badal), SGPC and their supporters from other parts of India would be held on July 22 to chalk out the programme.

According to media reports Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal is likely to be named the convener of the agitation.
